Leicester and District Mutual Football League Division 4 |

With this being
the last game of the season for the Eagles they had nothing to lose
on a bright Sunday morning away at Lutterworth.
Rugby started
confidently and tied together some neat passing for some early scoring
chances, whilst Kieran Dignan-Smith was having an excellent half
in goal making great saves to keep Lutterworth at bay. With the
Eagles applying more pressure substitute Bradley Osborne-Wells came
onto a lovely low passed ball and scored with his left foot to put
Rugby up one nil at half time.Another thanks to Parcels to Ireland
for this seasons beautiful kit.
The second half saw more of the same attacking football from the
Eagles and making Lutterworth take long shots(one that hit the crossbar)
and defending deep in their own half. With Rugbys midfield of Ben
Smith, Michael Lunn, Rory Harding, Oliver Rogerson, Dougie Lyttle
and Jordan Loydall all tackling well and making great passes to
gain Rugby lots of corners and throw ins, from this Ben Smith had
a great low shot saved, Jordan Loydall netted well straight from
a corner and Dougie Lyttle cheekily lifted the ball over the defence
and into the net to put the Eagles three nil up and still in line
to top the league at the close of the season. Rugby limited Lutterworth
few clear chances thanks to some excellent defending thanks to the
two rocks at the back Jack Cave and Jack Ellis-Jones. The coaches
would like to say a big thankyou to the children for a great season
of football showing for a second year that they are a great side,
and thankyou to the parents for all of their support. Todays 'Players
of the day' awards went to Ben Smith for some great shots and hard
work and Jack Ellis-Jones for some great defending.

| Kingsway
Celtic 0-8 Rugby Town Eagles |
| 4 March 2007 |
Leicester and District Mutual Football League Division 4 |
The Eagles travelled away to Kingsway Celtic in torrential
rain on sunday with vital points available.
Rugby started
at a good pace and were one nil up from Oliver Rogerson within the
first minute and Michael Lunn netting Rugbys second moments after
the restart. With the rain pouring down and the pitch getting sticky
the Eagles battled on in the midfield and starting creating some
great shooting chances.
Jack Onyett
grabbed Rugbys third with a nice low shot giving the keeper no chance,
Then up popped Rory Harding from no where and slotted home the fourth.
Late on in the half Jordan Loydall shot from distance and put the
ball into the roof of the net to make it five nil. Soon after with
some great football from Dougie lyttle, Bradley Osborne-Wells and
Jack Ellis-Jones saw Rugby pile on more pressure and score a sixth
goal from Jordan. Thanks to Parcels to Ireland for a stunning kit.
The second half
was hard going for the boys with the non stop rain, biting cold
and tired legs but showed spirit by trying to put on the pressure.
With this passing and shooting became very hard and showed with
Rugby finding it hard to score. Ben Smith coming out of goal wet
and cold played well on the left and put through some nice passes.
Rugby managed to get two more goals from Jack Onyett and Jordan
Loydall making it eight nil to the eagles. Todays Player of the
day award went to Dougie Lyttle for some great defending in the
first half and brilliant passing and movement in the second, Well
done.
Another display
of why the Eagles are a top of the league side, well done lads.

| Eagles
3-0 Harborough Mini Racers |
| 25 February 2007 |
Leicester and District Mutual Football League Division 4 |
With precious end of season points available Rugby had to
show good team work to overcome Harboro' to stay within chance of
topping the league.
With a slow
start on a rain soaked pitch Rugby and Harboro' battled it out in
midfield, with the Eagles working hard to keep the ball out of their
own half. After good attacking pressure from Dougie Lyttle, Ben
Smith, Rory Harding, Jordan Loydall and Michael Lunn in midfield
Rugby went one ahead when Bradley Osborne-Wells attacked a rebounded
ball and slotted passed the keeper.
Thanks to parcels
to Ireland for a great kit, Rugby came out brimming with confidence.
With Jack Cave having the game of his season, along with Jack Ellis-Jones
and Oliver Rogerson they had little to do in defence and broke forward
with the ball playing killer passes up to the attack, Jack Cave
making a great run from defence himself and was unlucky not to have
scored. Rugby then went on to make it two nil when Jack Onyett ran
passed two players and scored in the bottom corner. Rugby could
of had several more goals with shots just missing. Harboro' offered
little accept for a late own goal to make it three nil to the Eagles.
Another great
team performance from the lads that showed there is good strength
and deth in the Eagles. Todays 'Player of the Day' was awarded to
Bradley Osborne -Wells for covering every part of the pitch and
his back heels and overhead kick, Well done. And a massive well
done to the whole team. |
