Valley's
Scott Musgrove celebrates his opening
strike against Lancaster during the
first half |

Rugby
Town made it safely through to the next round
of the FA Trophy courtesy of goals from Scott
Musgrove and Jason Taylor either side of half
time.
Rugby
will now face UniBond Northern League opposition
in the 2nd Qualifying Round at Butlin Road against
Nantwich Town on the 1st November at Butlin Road.
The
match was, in general, a relatively comfortable
one for Valley who for the most part restricted
Lancaster to long range efforts.
Goalkeeper
Andrew Stevens did have to be at his best to keep
out two efforts with fantastic acrobatic saves
late on but it was Rugby who dominated proceedings
and really should have won by a healthier margin.
Scott
Musgrove fired Valley in front with a
sweetly-struck volley following a corner as the
pace of forward pairing David Stone and David
Kolodynski caused Lancaster several problems early
on.
Neil
King was guilty of missing a great chance with
the net gaping but his weak shot allowed the defender
to recover.
After
the break, Rugby started to hit the Dolly Blues
on the break and but for some smart saves from
Wolf, in particular from King and Kolodynski,
the score could have been extended.
The
final goal came when Wolf again denied Kolodynski
who had got in behind the defence but the young
striker squared the ball back for Jason
Taylor who made it three from three with
a simple finish.
