Striker
David Stone rounds the goalkeeper in
the closing stages to grab his second
goal of the game. |

Two
goals each from strike pairing David Kolodynski
and David Stone earnt Rugby Town a valuable win
at Yate Town.
In
blustery conditions, Valley were down to the bare
bones before the game with Delroy Gordon, Steve
Purton, Danny Williams, Dale Jones and returning
striker Daren Dykes all unavailable and matters
were compounded when Kieran Fitharris and Craig
Herbert both left the field injured before the
half hour mark.
With
an unfamiliar back four including Scott Musgrove
at left back and new signing Liam Nicell at right
back, Rugby started well and got their reward
after quarter of an hour when Matt Gearing's incisive
throughball was finished well by David
Kolodynski.
With
Herbert & Fitzharris then injured, Rugby were
forced to re-shuffle with the outstanding Tom
Breward moving to centre back as well as the introduction
of Rory Curtis and Jason Taylor.
Valley
doubled their lead on the stroke of half time.
Neil King's scuffed 25-yarder fortuitously found
David Stone who took a touch
to control before sending a low shot into the
net from 12 yards.
Yate
reduced the deficit after the break when Paul
Metheringham headed in from close range
before Kolodynski re-established the two-goal
advantage with a fantastic goal.
A
cross from the right was half-cleared and with
his back to goal, Kolodynski
produced a dipping over-head kick from 20 yards
which looped into the top corner.
With
six minutes remaining, Yate again pegged Valley
back when Aaron Blakemore curled
in a free kick from the edge of the area.
Rugby
wrapped up the deserved win in the closing minutes
as Stone chased a long clearances to beat the
defender and goalkeeper to the ball before poking
the ball into an empty net.
