Striker
David Kolodynski is
foiled in front of goal early on in
the first half as Rugby made a bright
start to the game |

The
damage was done in a thirteen minute period either
side of the break as Swindon netted four times
to effectively win the game.
The
scoreline was harsh on Valley who made a very
bright start in the first 30 minutes but ultimately
succumbed once they fell behind eight minutes
before half time.
The
second half was somewhat of a procession with
the result all but decided although there was
opportunity for both sides to score late goals
with David Kolodynski netting from the spot.
Rugby
manager Tony Dobson named four debutants with
left back Harry Donaghey, winger Allando Davis,
midfielder Ben Twigger and striker Jason Ramsay
playing their first game for the club.
In
opening day customary warm conditions Valley started
well and found space in behind the hosts' defence
although Kolodynski could not take full advantage
when he stole a march.
Steve
Purton came closest early on with two efforts
which both narrowly missed the target.
Swindon
slowly got themselves into the game and took full
advantage when they found space down the Rugby
left with Justyn McKay finishing
excellently first time from 18 yards.
The
home side got a crucial second goal on the stroke
of half time as Rugby failed to deal with a corner
and the impressive Mark Barnes
has plenty of time to stroke home from close range.
Things
got a lot worse just after half time when Donaghey
was caught out with some hesistant defending and
his foul in the area led to Joe Harris
firing home from the penalty spot.
Minutes
later and the game was wrapped up as Alan
Griffin scored into an empty net after
Andy Stevens had kept an effort from Barnes out.
Delory
Gordon hit the post with a header as Rugby continued
to plug away during the second half but it was
Swindon who controlled affairs.
Kolodynski
converted easily from the spot after he was brought
down in the area before Chris Taylor
wrapped up the scoring beating Stevens one-on-one
in stoppage time.
