Valley rounded off a perfect Easter with a second win against fellow promotion chasers Barton Rovers at Butlin Road.
Despite the importance of the occasion, it was an assured overall performance from Dave Stringer's side, and the result never really looked in doubt once the outstanding Seb Lake-Gaskin had given Town the lead on the quarter of an hour mark.
Understandably, both sides started the game with plenty of nervous energy to discharge, and as a result the opening exchanges were a little frantic.
The first effort on goal came from the visitors though, but keeper Niall Cooper was equal to Luke Knight's strike from the edge of the area.
However Lake-Gaskin was soon speeding past a couple of Rovers defenders at the other end, before composing himself and stroking the ball into the net for the opener.
Town were almost immediately two to the good, when Jamie Towers picked out Aaron King in a good position in front of goal - but the midfielder headed wide of the target.
Barton keeper Kyle Forster then denied both David Kolodynski and Justin Marsden at close quarters, as the hosts continued to look to extend their advantage, with the visitors' best chance in the run-up to the interval seeing Nathan Haines do well to block Keshi Anderson's shot.
Valley's second came ten minutes into the second period, when Lake-Gaskin's pace was again too much for the opposing back-line, and his cross to the far post came back off Kolodynski into the path of Towers - who calmly fired home his second goal for the club.
King had a shot blocked, before Rovers tried their best to get back into the game, although Rugby's defence was relatively unthreatened by this attempt.
However, Cooper was down well to keep out Kyle Lincoln's free-kick and Anderson sent one just wide of the post, with Cooper again at full stretch to deny sub Kim Forsythe's strike.
Lake-Gaskin then almost capped a fine individual performance with his second late on, when he curled one towards the top corner - but Forster managed to turn the ball round the target for a corner.
