Valley's title aspirations took another pounding after a poor performance at the Honeycroft Stadium led to defeat against a side struggling in the lower reaches of the table.
Manager Dave Stringer was without the unavailable Jamie Towers, but striker David Kolodynski was just back in-time from a holiday in America to replace him - after he had missed the midweek draw against Aylesbury.
Rugby nearly had the perfect start, when after just two minutes Kolodynski's attempted flick over the keeper was thwarted by Paul McCarthy.
The hosts went on to create the bulk of the chances in the remainder of the half, with Valley goalie Niall Cooper soon in the action when he was out quickly to confront the onrushing Matt Woods, but having sidestepped Cooper, Woods shot agonisingly wide.
Moments later a mix-up between Cooper and Luke Connolly allowed Chris Moore to squeeze through, but Alex Gudger applied enough pressure to stop him having a shot.
The visitors could not get into the match despite having a succession of corners, but they failed to threaten after opting to go short with them. Uxbridge were still pushing forward with Craig Tomkins hitting the side netting, and Moore seeing his header go wide of the post.
Town's other main opportunity of half came in the 37th minute, when central defender Gudger leapt the highest, but his header only hit the top of the net.
Uxbridge carried on where they left off at the start of the second period, with the unchallenged Moore unleashing an effort and Woods also shooting high over the bar.
There were chances for Rugby too though, with McCarthy pulling off a fine double save from Kolodynski at close quarters, and Richard Blythe twice heading against the bar.
Town took the lead on 65 minutes when Greg Kaziboni passed a delightful ball to Seb Lake-Gaskin - who struck a shot from twenty yards which flew past McCarthy.
Within four minutes the home side were level though, after Tomkins initial effort rebounded back off the bar and the ball fell to Woods to scramble home from close range.
After going behind, Rugby tried but failed to penetrate the Uxbridge rearguard and they then went behind in the 74th minute, after Moore tucked home after receiving a perfectly weighted pass from Mark Smith.
Valley’s miserable afternoon in the early spring sunshine was compounded ten minutes from time when Woods sealed an impressive performance with his second and Uxbridge's third.
The goal came when Valley defender Nathan Fox was muscled off the ball by Moore, and it fell to Woods to hit a shot which went through Cooper's legs.
