Valley endured a miserable NPL debut after being on the receiving end of a six goal hammering at the Nanpantan Sports Ground.
Despite an encouraging start to their first game in a new league, Town were two down by the interval, with two more strikes from the hosts shortly after the restart then shattering any hopes of an unlikely Rugby comeback, before David Kolodynski scored in-between two further goals from the Leicestershire side.
Eight of Town’s opening line-up were making their competitive debuts for the club, and they actually started the brighter with Kolodynski putting a speculative long range effort wide, player/manager Gary Mills seeing his shot go over the bar and Tom Liversedge’s shot from a tight angle from a Kolodynski cross comfortably saved by home keeper Joe McCormack.
However Loughborough were soon in the game and they took the lead on eighteen minutes, when Rob Norris floated over an accurate free-kick and Luke Edwards rose highest to head the ball past Scott Dutton in the Valley goal.
Dynamo doubled their advantage ten minutes later after a defensive horror show from Town. Will Dennis took the ball to the bye-line, and when the resulting seemingly harmless cross was not cleared and Norris scored from close range.
The second period started with a decent appeal for a penalty by Rugby, when Kolodynski appeared to have been brought down just inside the area, but the referee waved play on instead.
Sam Leggitt then put Loughborough further ahead when he tucked home their third, although Dutton will perhaps feel that he could have done better in dealing with the eighteen yard strike.
Manager Mills decided to make a double substitution at this point, but to no avail as Norris scored his second and the home side's fourth in the 53rd minute, when the ball fell kindly to him and under no pressure he poked the ball home.
Things got worse for Rugby when Mason Holwell headed in number five with still over twenty minutes left, but at least the visitors grabbed a scant consolation through Kolodynski in the 75th minute, when the striker scored from close range from Sam Warburton's run and cross after Liversedge had played the Northampton Town youngster in.
Substitute Leandro Browne rounded off a thoroughly miserable afternoon for Rugby when he completed the scoring with a low strike past Dutton.
