Valley Youth's slow start to the season continued with a third successive defeat in a performance that promised much but delivered very little, in a game interrupted by a horrific arm break of a Malvern player.
Valley started slowly again and were punished from a corner which was headed in unmarked.
With time Rugby started to grow into the game but gave the ball away too easily but on 20 minutes Jake Whelan lashed from range an equaliser and Valley started to dominate possession and territory.
Unfortunately on the half hour mark a Malvern player fell and was clearly in pain and discomfort on the ground and had broken his wrist -Club President Pete Kilvert was on hand to aid the Malvern player along with the Malvern bench.
This caused a delay of around 40mins and after the break Malvern settled back quicker when the hosts' striker was allowed to dance through the defence without any pressure and finish for their second.
The second half was a tight affair with Valley dominating the territory but looking suspect to counter attacks again due to giving sloppy passes away and with 15 mins left the tie was settled with a finish of the post.
Valley youth have to improve and fast if they are to make any achievements this year.
With thanks to Pete Kilvert for physio duties, to the traveling board members & fans and lastly to our sponsors Stanair. |
