Valley recorded their second four goal cup success of the week by brushing aside Harborough at their Bowden Park ground.
Town once more came from behind to secure the League Cup success, with a Danico Johnson treble and a first goal for the club by Romario Martin doing the damage on the 3G surface.
Valley boss Carl Adams made four changes to his starting eleven from the weekend win in the FA Cup at Redditch, with Lewis Rankin, Romario Martin, Lee Thomas and new signing Lewis Hayden coming into the line-up.
The home side started well, and Jordan Lever squandered a great chance for them early on after Matt Hill had made a good save from Danny Kitching.
Harborough did go ahead on ten minutes though, with Lever in part redeeming himself by drilling a low ball across the face of goal to set up Aaron Preston for a tap in from the subsequent scramble.
Valley were level almost immediately though, with Simeon Tulloch's floated free-kick met by the head of Dominic Perkins - whose effort was saved by Glen Giles but only into the path of Johnson, who scooped the ball home from four yards.
Johnson was soon on target again for Rugby's second when he ran through the Harborough half before cutting inside his marker and finishing neatly past Giles.
It was a nearly a quickfire hat-trick for the prolific striker, but his shot from edge of the box flew just over the bar, with Charlie Evans also going close when he put his effort into Giles's arms after Martin had played him in.
Preston did fire one over and had a further effort disallowed for offside, but it was the visitors that were generally the dominant force for the remainder of the opening period - with further decent chances falling to Hayden and Rankin ahead of the interval.
Martin wasted a great opportunity not long after the restart too, as Rugby's assured performance was back evident once more, and their dominance continued as the half progressed with the Tulloch dragging one just wide after he had completed a good turn inside the penalty area.
The inevitable third goal came on 68 minutes when Tulloch and Johnson combined to feed Martin - who surged through before rendering a clinical finish.
Martin and substitute Jamal Adams then both missed good chances of adding to Town's tally, before Hill pulled off two decent saves at the other to first deny Kitching and later Preston in a one-on-one.
Another Johnson's treble was secured with five minutes remaining when he robbed the ball off a dithering Giles to stroke it into an empty net, with the keeper at least then denying him his fourth shortly after with a good save to the forward's strong shot.
