Town extended their winning run to four matches after they cruised to a comfortable victory on a difficult playing surface at Waterworks Field .
Danico Johnson opened the scoring for Valley just past the quarter of an hour mark, and once Jamal Clarke had added another early in the second half, the outcome was never in doubt - with further goals from Dylan Parker and Lee Thomas easing the visitors over the line.
Charlie Evans returned to the starting line-up after completing his three game suspension, with Cain Thomas swapped back in for Caine Elliott in midfield.
Rugby were on top from the off, and early half chances for Parker and Ryan Seal both missed the target.
Town were gifted their opening goal after they stole possession from Ar Tarn defender Dan Law, which led to Parker being released to set up Johnson for a simple tap-in at the back post.
Johnson poked a further opportunity wide after good play from Seal, with Evans soon another to miss out from a decent central position from a Johnson pass.
Three even better chances followed in the lead-up to half-time, with home keeper Chris Jones keeping out Evans's strike after he had found himself through on goal, Clarke nodding Seal's corner wide and Parker's rasping shot from more than twenty yards flying just over.
Valley did not have to wait long for a second after the restart though, when Liam Francis flicked on another Seal set-piece delivery to allow Clarke to apply the final touch over the line.
Parker made it three after another Desborough defensive horror show saw him firing past Jones with his left foot following Seal's by-now customary assist.
Whilst the game's intensity did noticeably drop, opportunities continued to come Town's way and Johnson should have done better with an effort - but he lifted the ball over the bar at the far post.
Giuseppe Freitas did head one wide for the home side, before Lee Thomas added the fourth with another simple finish to Parker's low cross.
Parker and Johnson were then denied in close succession, as Valley were camped in the final third of the pitch for an extended period.
Town keeper Matt Hill denied the out-of-luck Freitas with an excellent low reaction save, before Rugby substitute Lewis Padmore missed out on breaking his senior goal duck when he slid the ball wide from close range after Johnson's cross had picked him out.
