Harry Holloway struck a stoppage time equaliser to rescue a point in another topsy-turvy away encounter for Rugby Town at Quorn.
Valley could have been way ahead at the interval, but only had a Charlie Evans' goal to show for their first half superiority.
Kieran Fitzgerald then restored their lead after a Quorn equaliser, however two more goals from the hosts looked to have earned them the victory, before substitute Holloway rescued a point at the death.
The visitors started well, with Evans nearly making an early breakthrough and Justin Marsden having a low shot deflected away for a corner.
The breakthrough came on 31 minutes when Fitzgerald did well to hold the ball up before laying it onto Evans to strike it under the body of home keeper Sam Taylor.
Evans could have doubled the tally after Loyiso Recci's pinpoint cross picked him out at the far post, but the striker's stooping header went wide.
Caine Elliott then fed Marsden, who - having skipped past Taylor - applied a poor finish and saw his shot cleared from the line.
Quorn's best chance of the half came late on, when Rakeem Reid tested Matt Hill with a low strike.
Six minutes into the new period the hosts were level though, with Dean Meikle punishing Rugby for a lack of concentration from a corner to help the ball home.
Town were back in front when Marsden dispossessed ex-Valley man Aaron Stringfellow before driving forward and setting Fitzgerald up for another low finish past Taylor.
Reid went close for Quorn and Jack Duffy also put one into the side netting, before the game's turning point saw a stonewall penalty appeal from Rugby turned down after Fitzgerald had been wrestled to the ground in the box.
Stephen Hart grabbed the hosts' second equaliser of the game on 76 minutes from close range, before Meikle appeared to have settled matters when heading in another Quorn corner in the closing minutes.
However there was still time for Taylor to only half clear Marsden's high ball into the area - allowing Holloway the opportunity to show good technique in guiding his half-volley into the roof of the net.
