Valley put on a dominant display to dismantle Deeping Rangers at Butlin Road.
James Hancocks brilliantly opened the scoring early on to set Rugby on the way to victory before Danico Johnson doubled the lead just before half time.
But it was in the second half when Valley really showed their dominance with a Charlie Evans brace and another from the influential Dylan Parker finishing off the scoring.
Town made two changes from the FA Vase penalty shoot out win against Bilston, with Keenah Rosser and Justin Marsden making way for Jamal Clarke and Kurtis Revan.
Rugby's new signing - former Mansfield Town player - Anthony Howell was on the sub's bench.
The home side made a fine start, when James Hancocks scored a cracking goal by curling a great goal off the underside of the bar from twenty five yards out, after collecting a precise ball from the impressive Danico Johnson.
Rugby continued on the front foot with Clarke seeing a header flash wide and Hancocks again just failing to connect with Johnson's pass inside the box.
Deeping did not threaten early on, but in the 19th minute Tai Williams missed a sitter from close range after receiving a long ball from Jack Bloodworth.
Town doubled their lead just before half-time when Danico Johnson tapped in after decent midfield play from Dylan Parker.
The dominance continued in the second half when Johnson's jinking run ended in a decent shot but he dragged his effort wide.
Just ahead of the hour mark, the game moved further away from Deeping when Charlie Evans in a more forward role scored from six yards out from another fine pass into the area from Parker.
Substitute Ryan Seal nearly got onto the scoring sheet when his well-struck effort was saved by Daniel Swain.
Parker then deservedly got a goal of his own when he found space and hit a powerful shot, after a incisive pass from Lee Thomas.
With just under twenty minutes left, Evans grabbed his second and Rugby's fifth when again the Deeping defence could not cope with Parker, whose accurate pass found Evans at the far post for him to complete a resounding victory and keep the early pressure on leaders Shepshed Dynamo.
