Rugby Town's pre-season continued with another competitive display in a narrow defeat against local rivals Bedworth United at Butlin Road.
It was another encouraging pre-season display for Carl Adams' men who were still without a number of players including David Kolodynski, Kurtis Revan and Barry Fitzharris.
The opening goal for Bedworth was almost as soft as they come as Ryan Moore's corner squirmed past Ben Newey into the net at the near post.
Valley's response was almost immediate as Charlie Evans pressured ex-Rugby goalkeeper Sam Lomax into a mistake outside his area leading to a foul with Danico Johnson stepping up to dispatch the freekick.
Midfielder Max Johnson's excellent lofted throughball played in Dylan Parker soon after but his powerful first time shot was well kept out by Lomax.
The winning goal of the game came late after a cross from the right found an unmarked Bedworth substitute at the far post and he controlled and finished smartly into the corner.
