Valley recorded a comfortable win in their first outing of pre-season at Hellenic League Division One side FC Stratford.
Loyiso Recci and David Kolodynski netted along with an own goal for Carl Adams' men against their Step 6 opponents.
There were starts for the returning Ryan Seal and Charlie Evans for Rugby while goalkeeper Matt Hill came on as a half time substitute.
There were also appearances from the bench for some trialists inlcuding right-sided player Drew Kear (ex-Hinckley), midfielder Dom Bolton (ex-Rugby, Long Buckby) and left back Hayden Seymour (ex-Wolves Sporting, Dudley Sports).
Meanwhile Rugby were without unavailable trio Edwin Ahenkorah, Keenah Rosser and Josh Thomas.
Luke English's trademark throw-in caused enough problems in the hosts defence to open the scoring as the ball was eventually turned into the net by captain Loyiso Recci with a low shot on the turn.
Another English throw assisted Rugby's second as the defender turned the ball into his own net under pressure from Kolodynski following substitute Kear's flick-on.
Kolodynski then got on the scoresheet himself late on when Justin Marsden took advantage of a defensive Stratford slip to feed the striker who finished low into the corner.
