A much-changed Rugby Town exited the UCL Knockout Cup at the Preliminary Round stage as Leicester Nirvana prevailed at Butlin Road.
Town's nine match unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end with a at the hands of UCL Premier North Nirvana
The Leicester front-line gave the home defence a torrid time most of the evening, meaning the visitors were good value for their victory, although Hayden Seymour had given Valley some hope with a 57th minute strike that evened up the score at the time.
With an eye on the weekend's FA Cup tie at Basford, Rugby's line-up showed nine changes from the previous game, which included first starts for the club for Seymour, Ben Whitehead and Jamie Reynolds-Wilkins.
The first chance of the game did fall to the hosts though, when Reynolds-Wilkins played Drew Kear in on goal, but Kear stabbed his resulting effort just past the post.
For the remainder of the first half Nirvana were in the ascendence, with their tormentors-in-chief Tamar Clayton-Nauze and Kyle Tott finding themselves on the end of a series of opportunities to open the scoring.
Tott dragged the first of these wide, with a volley from him shortly after also missing the target.
Clayton-Nauze's deflected strike narrowly cleared the crossbar, before Tott got in behind the Town back-line again only to be denied by a good save by Ash Bodycote.
Bodycote was soon pushing away a dangerous-looking deep corner from Clayton-Nauze, before the same player finally broke the deadlock when he ran unchallenged into the box before dispatching a low shot past the Rugby keeper on 39 minutes.
Clayton-Nauze was back to the fore shortly after the restart when he lifted one wide from an angled position, with Joshua Nwokoro getting in on the act when his powerful strike smashed back off the underside of the bar.
However Town's best period of the game followed this near miss, with Josh Thomas heading over a Ryan Seal corner and Madundo Semahimbo's low effort drawing a decent save from Leicester keeper Adam Binks.
The home side were rewarded for their more purposeful endeavours when Seal slipped in Edwin Ahenkorah, whose shot was pushed up by Binks into the path of Seymour, who duly volleyed the ball into the roof of the net.
Rugby's joy was short lived though, with Leicester striker Daniel Odunaiya pouncing on Bodycote's parry to Nwokoro's strike within a couple of minutes of the equaliser to restore the visitors' advantage again.
Bodycote then pulled off the stop of the match with a flying save to deny Clayton-Nauze a second goal of the evening, before Semahimbo headed over from six yards out at the other end with Valley's last significant chance of the game.
Tott's notable contributions finally earnt him a goal on 79 minutes when he calmly guided the ball home from the edge of the area - putting the tie beyond Rugby in the process.
