Valley extended their winning league streak to six after a goal-fest at the Butt Parks Arena.
The visitors put in an accomplished performance on a cold, wintry afternoon on United's artificial playing surface and the final margin of victory could easily have been greater come the final whistle.
For the second game running, Town raced into an early three-goal lead through Liam Francis, David Kolodynski and an own goal, further strikes followed from Jordan Wilson and Josh Thomas, although the hosts did at least try and make a contest of it with three goals of their own around and between these.
Rugby named an unchanged starting line-up for the third game in a row, with Tom Fielding back with the squad where he joined recent returnees from injury Keenah Rosser and Barry Fitzharris on the substitutes' bench.
Town threatened from the off and they created their first clear-cut chance with seven minutes completed when Edwin Ahenkorah steered Caine Elliott's cross over the bar after a well-worked team move.
Wilson's volley was then pushed away for a corner, with Kolodynski's near post flick to this set-piece forcing the hosts to concede another from it.
This time Seal's quadrant delivery was headed back across by Loyiso Recci to give Francis the opportunity to execute a further header down past keeper Kris Roscoe into the Coventry goal.
Recci headed a further chance off-target, before Kolodynski extended Rugby's lead with a cool far-post finish to Dan Summerfield's low-flighted cross on 21 minutes.
Valley's nine-minute treble blitz was completed after another free-flowing move had ended with Ahenkorah flashing a cross which skidded in off the boot of United defender Jake Williams.
Shortly after another Ahenkorah delivery from the wing nearly generated Town's fourth, but Summerfield's effort took a slight deflection wide after Kolodynski's clever dummy had bamboozled the home defence.
To this point, Town had restricted the hosts to very little in terms of a threat, but they then saw their lead pegged-back when Jared Bradshaw's attempted cross from the right hand side flew over Matt Hill and into the top corner of the net.
Rugby's three-goal margin was soon restored though, with Seal playing in Wilson - who showed good ball control with two defenders in close proximity before lifting his volley beyond Roscoe.
Hill then pulled off a decent save to deny Bradshaw and Joe Blowers, with Roscoe replicating Hill's feat by keeping out Alex Lock's low strike from the edge of the box and Wilson's follow-up attempt ahead of the interval.
On the restart, it was United that made the early impact this time round, with Kyle Carey smashing home after Blowers had burst through and laid the ball up for him at the back post.
Valley seemed relatively untroubled by the setback though, and Elliott had a shot blocked, before Kolodynski really should have scored when he lifted one over the target after Wilson had played him in following Seal's tenacity when turning over possession in the middle of the park.
Wilson dragged a further strike from distance wide of the post, before the fifth Town goal finally came when Thomas timed his run to perfection to flick home Seal's clever free-kick on 68 minutes.
Valley sub Madundo Semahimbo blazed one over the bar after fellow replacement Luke English's quick, long throw had caught the home side napping at the back, whilst with the roles reversed English then put Semahimbo's cross high of the frame.
Semahimbo had a goal ruled out after a marginal-looking offside decision, before he earnt himself a penalty after David Peplinski had clipped his heels near the by-line.
Roscoe was equal to Semahimbo's spot-kick however - diving to his left to deny the Town striker.
Semahimbo's fortunes did not improve, with his header to another English throw going wide and then he had another goal ruled out by an even tighter offside call.
With the game into added-on time, Coventry gained a further consolation for their efforts when Archie Gallacher stroked the ball home after Ethan Kavanagh had made the most of the space afforded to him on the right wing.
