Rugby Town returned to winning ways with a comprehensive victory over Oadby at Butlin Road and extended their lead at the top of the table to four points in the process.
Despite the emphatic margin of the victory, it was not a classic Valley performance on the day, but a David Kolodynski brace and goals from substitutes Edwin Ahenkorah and Ryan Seal gave Town their seventh home three pointer of the league campaign to-date.
Kolodynski had returned to the Rugby starting line-up after a four match spell on the bench in place of the suspended Jordan Wilson, with Josh Thomas back in again in place of the also-banned Loyiso Recci.
The visitors made the more encouraging start, and Sele Nassor probably should have scored in the opening minutes when he was released on the break by ex-Valley man Lamar Parkes, but the Oadby striker sent his shot wide of the target.
Camen Bhandal's free-kick flew way off target, as Oadby continued to make an early impact, although the hosts did have a goal ruled out after Madundo Semahimbo was ruled to be in an offside position when he helped home a strike from distance by Luke English.
Rugby did begin to make more of an impression on the game after that near-miss though, with Thomas just unable to get a firm connection on Liam Francis's header from the back post and then Barry Fitzharris volleying one well wide.
Dan Summerfield came within millimetres of opening the scoring when his well-struck effort bounced down off the underside of the bar after Caine Elliott had driven forward with the ball to allow Semahimbo to lay it back into Summerfield's path.
Kolodynski's cross from the right was cut out by Oadby keeper Charlie Andrews, before the opening goal came on 30 minutes when another surge into the box by Elliott led to ball falling at the feet of Kolodynski who expertly steered the ball past Andrews after his first attempt had been blocked.
Alex Lock almost added a second shortly after, but his shot from a tight angle was parried away by Andrews, with the increasingly busy away keeper also down well to keep out a low free-kick from Kolodynski ahead of the half-time whistle.
The visitors again started the new period well, with Umar Hussain drawing a fine fingertip save from Matt Hill to a strike that looked destined for the top corner.
Hussain screwed a further chance wide, before Town re-established themselves again with a Thomas flicked-header blocked on the line and Kolodynski just unable to force home the resulting loose ball.
English's head also glanced one the wrong side of the post, with Oadby's only subsequent opportunity of the remainder of the game then coming when Nassor pounced on a poor kick-out from Hill, but fortunately the keeper recovered well to keep out the strike that followed by Parkes.
The crucial Valley second came just past the hour mark, when Kolodynski doubled his UCL goal return for the season by volleying home from five yards out after a well-worked move involving Elliott and Summerfield.
From this point on, the home side took control and Andrews was soon parrying a Francis header, with the keeper also needing to be alert to gather Phil Bilson's slice to another dangerous Summerfield cross.
Elliott missed the target with his shot, before Kolodynski did well to dispossess an Oadby defender and then unselfishly laid up Ahenkorah for a neat low finish after he had cut inside onto his left foot to make it three.
After a long stoppage whilst Bilson was stretchered from the pitch with a nasty looking ankle injury, Rugby set about looking for a fourth, and this came five minutes into added time when Seal followed up on his own initial shot to stroke the ball past Andrews.
There was still time for two further chances for Town, with Kolodynski's whipped effort pushed away by Andrews and Seal's strike into the ground bouncing just wide.
