Rugby Town came from behind with ten men to secure a hard-fought win at Histon.
Despite dominating the majority of the first period, Valley found themselves a goal and a man down after the hosts converted from the spot following a handball on the line by Luke English.
However David Kolodynski's equaliser ahead of the interval and Jordan Wilson's sixth strike in just six league appearances for the club on the hour mark secured Town another three-point haul.
Wilson and skipper Loyiso Recci were both back into Rugby's starting eleven for the fixture after missing out cup-tied and suspended respectively previously.
Josh Thomas and Edwin Ahenkorah dropped down to the bench, with Alex Lock also into Town's midfield in place of the injured Barry Fitzharris.
Charlie Tunnell put in a harmless free-kick for the hosts in the opening minutes, but aside from a wide effort by Histon defender Max York, it was Rugby that dominated proceedings - creating a number of good goalscoring opportunities in the process.
The visitors probably should have had a penalty when Wilson was taken down just inside the box, but a free-kick on the edge of it was awarded instead, with Ryan Seal unable to take advantage of it when his set-piece was blocked out.
Liam Francis headed a decent cross from Caine Elliott wide, with a speculative effort from distance by Seal then bouncing marginally wide of the frame.
Seal missed out again when home keeper Sam Roach smothered his effort from another delivery from the wing, before Roach pulled off a fine low save to Kolodynski's crisply struck shot as Valley continue to impress with their free-flowing football.
Seal's cross from the left just evaded two advancing sky blue shirts, and Kolodynski then sent one wide of target from a dangerous position.
The half was 38 minutes old when Town fell behind, with English instinctively guiding his hand to stop York's strike crossing the line, with York himself stepping up to stroke the penalty home after English had departed the field having received a red card for his misdemeanour.
Rugby were level within five minutes though, when Kolodynski was the quickest to react to Roach's parry to Wilson's initial shot to drill the ball into the net from ten yards.
There was still time for another chance for Kolodynski ahead of the half-time whistle , but after finding himself in space down the right channel he opted to delay his shot and was ultimately crowded out.
Both Seal and Kolodynski again were guilty of not shooting quickly enough in Town's first two forays after the break, but what ultimately proved to be game's winner then came when a perfectly flighted free-kick from Seal was headed in by Wilson.
Luke Lindsay did one head one over the bar at the other end, but Town's ten men were generally untroubled by their numerically advantaged opponents in the final half an hour.
For Rugby, Recci did drag one wide and sub Madundo Semahimbo had a well-struck effort blocked, with the closest that Histon came seeing Recci execute a fine saving tackle late in the game.
