Second half goals from substitute pair Jordan Wilson and David Kolodynski seal a hard-fought win at Wellingborough Town to send Rugby top of the table.
In a tight game with few clear cut chances, it was the 70th minute introduction of the two strikers that proved to be the game's decisive moment and it ensured that Valley were able to extend their unbeaten start to the new league campaign to nine matches.
Luke English was back in Town's starting line-up in place of the ill Keenah Rosser in one change from the side that had secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Easington earlier in the week.
The visitors had the first chance at the Dog & Duck Stadium after nine minutes, when Tom Fielding's low shot was taken relatively comfortably by Lewis Patching.
The home side were the next to threaten though, with Luis Viera's effort skimming past the back post and then Wellingborough skipper Jack O'Connor headed one over the bar from a corner.
Madundo Semahimbo's volley from an English knock-down was straight at Patching, with a similar result coming later in the half when Semahimbo's run into the box ended with a snapshot attempt.
In between these two opportunities for Semahimbo, there was also almost one for Fielding when he outpaced former Rugby player Rico Alexander to run onto a bouncing through ball.
However Alexander then halted his run illegally and despite seeming to be the last defender, he escaped with just a booking.
Fielding also started the second half in an incisive fashion, when he waltzed past a couple of Doughboy defenders before firing a shot over the bar.
Valley were generally controlling affairs without really testing Patching, whilst the hosts did carry some threat on the break and Rugby keeper Matt Hill was well-placed to deal with Dan Porter's strike after one such foray forward by them.
The breakthrough came just a minute on from the double substitution when Wilson swept home Dan Summerfield's low cross after the wing-back had done well to surge into the left hand side of the penalty area.
Town did ride their luck a little on two occasions following the opening goal, with Alex Lock providing a goal line clearance following a scramble in the six yard box and then Viera should have done better when he found himself clean through on goal - only to screw his effort wide of the target.
Summerfield had also put a curling shot just past the post, before Kolodynski settled any late Rugby nerves in added-time with a close range finish to Wilson's squared cross.
