Rugby came from a goal behind to ultimately win at a canter against Newcastle Town at Butlin Road to progress in the Emirates FA Cup.
Jordan Wilson's brace and strikes from Drew Kear, Loyiso Recci and Alex Lock meant that Town registered a five-goal haul for the second consecutive FA Cup home game this season, but unlike the Malvern goal-fest draw a fortnight previously, it was straight into the hat for Valley this time round.
Kear was recalled into a wing-back role in place of Luke English in one of two changes from the midweek league defeat at Quorn, with midfielder Roger Lee starting his three-match suspension to be replaced by Karabo Motshweni in the other.
Town almost made a flying start to the tie when Ryan Sahota chased down a clearance from Newcastle keeper James McClenaghan, but the ball just drifted out of the midfielder's reach.
Lewis Holdham then put an acrobatic effort wide of the post for the visitors, just before he gave his side the lead when he ran in behind the Rugby back-line to smash home past Matt Hill on seven minutes.
Holdham was soon very nearly repeating the feat from a near identical situation, but this time his control let him down and Hill was able to come out and gather.
Meanwhile, David Kolodynski was another to suffer from a poor touch when he was unable to make something from a decent cross from Kear, and then the striker was nearly through again shortly after, as the end-to-end nature of the game continued.
The hosts gained reward for their endeavour on 23 minutes though, when Karabo Motshweni threaded a pass into Wilson, who turned 180 degrees before guiding the ball low past McClenaghan.
Newcastle responded well to the home side's equaliser, and Town had Matt Hill to thank for maintaining the state of parity with a string of impressive saves. Valley's keeper caught an on-target effort from Patryk Mazurkiewicz and then blocked a shot from Holdham with his legs, after Newcastle's danger man had got in again.
Alfie Carmichael's header had also skidded narrowly wide in this period of play, but it was Rugby who found the target next after Wilson's speed of thought saw him play a quick free-kick into the path of Kear down the left, and he cut inside the penalty area before firing the ball through McClenaghan's body and into the net.
Once more the response from the visitors was commendable, with Hill applying a strong hand to push away Carmichael's low strike from the edge of the box and the busy Town keeper also keeping out Kyle Stubbs's curling free-kick.
Another decent chance for the visitors saw Mazurkiewicz denied by a good block by Josh Thomas, but Valley really should have gone into the break a further goal ahead after Kolodynski picked out Wilson with a perfect cross to the far post, only to see Wilson screw the ball wide.
Tommy Van Der Laan's header early in the second half proceedings was blocked on the line, before Sahota's strike from twenty yards sailed just wide.
The visitors still continued to hold a threat, with Jack Van Der Laan rising effort from distance clearing the frame and Daniel Edwards also bundling one off-target.
However the stuffing was visibly knocked out of Newcastle when - within twenty seconds after his arrival onto the pitch - sub Lock took a single touch before audaciously lifting the ball into the roof of the net from fully forty yards.
Recci made it four when he was on-hand to help in an inswinging corner from Motshweni on 70 minutes, with Sahota nearly adding another from close-range, after a neat cross by another Town replacement Edwin Ahenkorah.
Even though the game now appeared to be beyond them, the visitors did continue to carve out a set of goalscoring opportunities, with Hill again pulling off a decent save to thwart Mazurkiewicz and then Jack Van Der Laan lifting over the rebound.
Holdham also screwed another great chance wide after he had once more ghosted beyond his marker, with Keenah Rosser's well-timed challenge on Maxwell Chimenes also preventing Newcastle from adding to their tally.
It was the hosts that rounded off the scoring though in stoppage time when Sahota nipped on to a Lock pass to play in Wilson, who finished things off at the second attempt, after initially clumsily bundling the ball past McClenaghan.
