A sorry Rugby Town were hit for six as promotion contenders Anstey Nomads underlined their credentials at Cropston Road.
The hosts fully demonstrated how they have managed to lose just two games in the league in the season so far with three goals in each half as part of a dominating performance.
Town boss Carl Adams made four changes to his opening line-up for the trip across the Leicestershire border, with first club starts for Harrison Nee and Theo Rowe, and a return to the midfield for skipper Barry Fitzharris and Ryan Sahota.
The Nomads were ahead after just five minutes though, when Jacob Fenton coolly side-footed home after Dairen Wauchope had cut the ball back to him from the left-hand side.
Mikey Taylor did power one wide for Rugby from twenty yards, but the home side threatened in every attack they launched, with Henry Bestwick ballooning a decent chance wide and Town keeper Paul Hathaway pulling off a fine double save to deny Corey Armeni and Bestwick.
Rowe was looking a threat for the visitors too though, and one of his crosses from the left skidded off the head of Taylor and drifted just wide.
However, Anstey doubled their advantage on seventeen minutes when an innocuous-looking delivery into the box from Wauchope somehow ended up finding the bottom corner of the net.
The hosts continued to turn the screw on Town, so it was no surprise when they scored again - thanks to Freddie Robinson's finish to Fenton's assist just past the half-hour mark.
To their credit, Valley did rally a little in the run up to the interval, with Rowe firing one over after a decent run and Nee also having an effort blocked.
Nyle Blake then missed a good opportunity to stretch the lead further when he poked the ball wide after he had got in behind Rugby's back-line, with the visitors going close on two more occasions ahead of the break when David Kolodynski's on-target strike was blocked in the goalmouth by Lewis Gibbens and then Nee lifted one over the bar.
Any hopes of an unlikely Town fightback were blown away within three minutes early into the second half, with the unmarked Blake helping one in from close range after Armeni's free-kick had seen the ball bounce around the away goal and then Robinson was also given too much time and space before volleying home for Anstey's fifth.
The home side slipped back down the gears from this point - safe in the knowledge that another three points would be coming their way.
Rugby did carve out a few half chances, with Ryan Sahota guiding one over the bar and Taylor shooting one at Conrad Logan from an angled position.
For the home side, Blake missed out again when through on goal and Nomads' sub Charlie Holliday flashed in a dangerous cross, before their sixth of the evening came in the final minute of normal time when Brad Wilson headed home Kyle Tomlin's free-kick.
