Spider Steps Up As Marsden Moves On
Popular defender Liam Francis has been appointed as the club's new player/assistant manager.
Liam takes the place of outgoing Valley veteran Justin Marsden who had been the player/assistant since re-joining the club under current boss Carl Adams in 2018 from Stratford Town.
Francis was made a player/coach last summer and was a key part of the promotion-winning side last season scoring six goals in 39 appearances.
Affectionately known as Spider, the 33-year-old defender has now amassed 130 games for Rugby scoring 23 goals since joining from Redditch United in 2018.
39-year-old Marsden has moved on wishing to continue his playing career and leaves the club third place in the all-time appearances for the club and joint fifth on the top scorers roster with 77 goals for the club in 368 appearances across three spells at the club where he graduated from the youth team to make his debut in 2001.
Rugby Town would like to thank Justin for his efforts on and off the pitch over the last two decades and wish him luck for the future. |
