A late flurry of goals ensured a victory in our penultimate pre-season friendly against Aylestone Park at Butlin Road.
After a slow first half which saw Aylestone Parkdominate possession Rugby took the lead just before the break and then after a raft of changes in the second half, Valley scored some fine goals to secure the win.
Despite the visitors being on top in the first half they did not carve out many clear cut opportunities and it was Rugby who opened the scoring two minutes before half time with the only real piece of quality from the hosts in the first half.
A neat interchange on the right between Trey Charles and Mike Taylor opened up the Aylestone defence to release Ryan Sahota and he fed a neat through ball for winger Hilton Arthur who buried his one-on-one chance.
After Rugby made seven half time changes, Aylestone got parity just past the hour mark when Rugby were caught out down their left allowing substitute full-back Matt Dawson in behind to square for Sam Hollis to score the easiest of finishes.
Valley were soon back in front when a rapid ball turnover on the halfway line resulted in an overload with Charles finding impressive substitute Tayo Alexander-Tucker who found the net with an excellent finish off the underside of the bar.
Charles himself was soon on the scoresheet with two excellent finishes of his own - firstly curling a sublime effort into the top corner from just inside the area before blasting another high into the net from the edge of the area.
