Rugby Town were on the wrong end of another narrow loss at playoff-chasing Coleshill Town.
As has been the case for Rugby in the last few games, the damage was done in the period just after half time as Sam Tye netted what was ultimately the winning goal.
It was another closely-contested game, but the home side looked much more potent and dangerous in attack as Valley's lack of cutting edge in the final third was again evident in trying to break down a well-organised Coleshill side.
With top scorer Trey Charles suspended for the trip to Pack Meadow, there was a return to the Town starting line-up for Chris Clements on the hosts' artificial surface.
Valley showed an early sign of promise though, with Caine Elliott's purposeful forward run ending with a shot from Jahvan Davidson-Miller from the edge of the penalty area which was blocked.
Ben Usher-Shipway's lofted free-kick caused problems for Rugby but Harry Craven was unable to get a true connection on it, whilst at the other end Josh Thomas's looping header to a Clements' corner was comfortably gathered by home keeper Tyrese Warmington.
Harrison Nee then surged to the byline before sending in a poor cross beyond his team-mates, with Dan Summerfield across the face of the goal quickly to cut out a much more threatening centre from Ross Evans.
Tyreace Brown's teasing lofted delivery into the danger zone was cleared away, before Summerfield was again providing sterling defensive work when blocking a goal-bound header from Craven.
Elliott's flighted cross was just too long for Will Ronald, and then Paul Hathaway pulled off a great point-blank save to tip Jack Concannon's powerful close range effort onto the crossbar, as the two sides continued to trade chances.
Another wayward cross from a decent position by Nee failed to trouble the Coleshill defence, with Dan Brookes's weak effort all but bringing the first half to a close.
The first opportunity of the new period also fell to the hosts, with Evans's strike deflected for a corner after Alex McSkeane had held the ball up well on the edge of the box.
Obeng put one well over the frame, before Coleshill took the lead on 56 minutes following a mis-placed crossfield pass from Ronald which was taken on by Usher-Shipway to feed Tye to slot home from twelve yards out.
Ronald nearly made amends for his mistake shortly after, when his rising strike from a tight angle was saved by Warmington following a neat interchange with Nee, with Clements then testing the Colemen keeper again with a free-kick that Warmington did well to get across to and push away.
Davidson-Miller probably should have done better with his shot from just inside the box following a crisp move from the visitors, although it really should have been two-nil three minutes later when Brown struggled to deal with a high ball forward from the home side before making a poor back pass which released McSkeane on goal.
McSkeane's resulting effort was fortunately pushed around the post by Hathaway to keep Town's hopes alive.
Substitute Keiron Berry's jinking run into the box ended with a rising, angled strike that Warmington did well to deal with, and despite a late period of pressure from Rugby and a couple of potentially threatening scrambles in the box, the Coleshill defence held firm and Valley's latest run without victory was extended to five matches.
