Unbeaten league leaders Quorn made light work of Rugby Town to preserve their eleven-point advantage at the top.
The visitors raced to a four-goal lead within twenty-five minutes to put the game out of reach, and whilst there was a marginally-improved showing from Valley in the second half, two further strikes compounded their misery and ended Town's three NPL match run without a defeat in the process.
Rugby's starting line-up showed three changes from their previous league outing - a 1-1 draw at Long Eaton, with the injured Ayo Lekuti and Tayo Tucker replaced by Damien Osoimoejiokhian and Silvano Obeng, and new signing Keiron Berry making his debut in place of Caine Elliott.
It was actually the hosts that had the game's first shot on goal ahead of the Quorn blitz that followed, when Chris Clements put one into the hands of keeper Tom Allsop with a long range strike from out wide.
However, Quorn were soon ahead on five minutes when Jasper Tetlow's simple long ball over the heads of Dan Summerfield and Tyreace Brown was controlled by skipper Reece Fyfe and duly lifted beyond the reach of Paul Hathaway.
Cain Noble nearly added another after Silvio Bello's neat pass had picked him out, but he sent his effort wide of the target, before Ryan Sahota volleyed wildly over at the other end.
It was two though when Brown failed to co-ordinate his feet quickly enough to deal with Jordan Clarke's cross from the left to see him slice the ball past his own keeper.
Two became three on 22 minutes when Ryan Beswick's lofted pass over an increasingly open defence was pounced on by Courey Grantham, and he set-up a simple close-range finish for Clarke.
The fourth was not long coming either, when more lackadaisical tracking and marking ended with another straightforward tap-in for Noble to Clarke's squared ball across the box.
Hathaway was then quickly off his line to deny Clarke another goal shortly after, with Beswick having a shot blocked and Tetlow heading a great chance over, as the visitors threaten to run riot.
For Town, Harrison Nee's run from deep ended with a cross that Allsopp managed to smother at the feet of Berry, and Berry was denied a further time by a tackle in the box after good work from Sahota.
Obeng also blazed one high and wide of the frame after he had turned onto Trey Charles's ball into his feet, with the visitors ending the half with another decent chance which saw Noble's strike drift just the wrong side of the upright.
Beswick's free-kick from a dangerous position after the restart was marginally over, before the home side had their best spell of the game and enjoyed some decent possession and territory.
Chris Clements whipped-in a free-kick from the left which was headed away from the goalmouth, and Osoimoejiokhian was almost on the end of a Charles corner from the other side.
Obeng's rising effort was taken high by Allsopp after quick feet from Charles on the edge of the area, before Quorn regained their foothold and started to probe for their fifth of the afternoon.
Noble's goalbound strike was blocked on the line by Osoimoejiokhian and sub Oscar Marshall put one straight at Hathaway after he had cut in from the left, before Marshall extended the lead with a low angled strike under Hathaway from Fyfe's clever assist.
Ethan O'Toole's curled free-kick drifted just beyond the back-post, and Berry's volley from distance was gathered at the second attempt by Allsopp after good work from O'Toole centrally, before Quorn scored their sixth in stoppage-time when another long ball from the back by Tetlow was taken on by Grantham to fire home at the second attempt.
