Valley signed off their stint in the NPL Midlands with an entertaining victory against Sutton Coldfield Town at Butlin Road.
Despite the game being somewhat of a dead rubber following confirmation of Rugby's relegation earlier in the week, Ian King signed off his spell in charge of the club in style with a rare comfortable league victory.
There was one change to the Town starting line-up from the fate-sealing draw at Bedworth on Easter Monday with Bodi Thistleton returning at left-back - meaning a more advanced role for Ayo Lekuti.
Chris Clements sent a free-kick well over the crossbar as part of a reasonably bright start from the hosts, and they took the lead on 23 minutes after Daniele Reka's pass picked out Harrison Nee - who did well to first shake off his marker and then neatly round keeper James Wren before firing home.
Reka screwed one wide after Micah Edwards's searching ball had found him in a decent position in the box, with Thistleton then failing to get a shot off from a familiar Town pre-planned corner routine.
It was two though in first-half stoppage-time after Trey Charles had won possession on the edge of the Sutton penalty area, and with the visitors left appealing for an infringement, Charles rolled the ball sideways to Caine Elliott to apply a simple finish for his second goal of the campaign.
Rugby also started the new period in confident manner, and Edwards was soon setting up Harrison Nee, but he blasted his cross-shot harmlessly out of play.
Lekuti then flashed in a decent cross - but there was no-one to meet it, before the Royals had their only real chance of the game when Ryan Edmunds helped one wide from a good position.
Town's Hilton Arthur was making an instant impact following his introduction from the bench, and his delivery from the right hand channel was just cut-out, before Wren was off his line quickly to deny another substitute Ryan Sahota.
A long ranging looper from Arthur was tipped over the frame by Wren, before the increasingly-busy Sutton stopper then pulled off another full-stretch save to keep out a further effort from Arthur.
Lucas Stanley did well before forcing a corner from another determined Town attack, and Arthur volleyed over after the ball ended up with him from the resulting set-piece.
With a minute of normal time remaining Rugby did manage a third goal in a league fixture for only the second time in the campaign after neat interchange play between the team ended with Clements threading the ball forward for Sahota to cleverly flick into the path of Dan Summerfield to skip through and beat Wren in a one-on-one.
Rugby pushed hard into the previously unknown for a fourth, and a dinked cross from Stanley was taken high by Wren, and a further strike from the youngster also drew a good save, although Edmunds did send a shot wide of the post at the other end.
Arthur nearly capped an uneventful twenty minutes or so on the pitch with an on-target, acrobatic overhead kick which Wren managed to parry, although the offside flag would have denied him a first competitive Town goal anyway.
