Valley players dance in celebration after Stan Anaebonam (No 14) effectively sealed the win with the third goal against Warwick in the FA Trophy at Butlin Road
Valley came from behind against 10-man Racing Club Warwick to earn their first win in the FA Trophy in 15 years.
The victory ensured Town a place in the Second Round Qualifying for the first time since 2010, and also marked Grant Joshua's first competitive home win as manager..
Joshua made one enforced change to the team that drew at Belper Town the previous week, with midfielder Olly West coming into the back four in place of Bleu McNeil - who was away on holiday.
The visitors made a promising start with one-time Valley striker Romario Martin having a shot blocked and Ethan Hanson also executing a perfectly-timed tackle to deny Cameron Ebbutt in the box.
At the other end, West's raking long-ball was then helped on by Rivel Mardenborough into the path of Caine Elliott, and the Town midfielder's resulting shot was stabbed away by the legs of another ex-Butlin Roader Sam Lomax.
Warwick were rendered short-handed as early as the 16th minute when full-back Archie Hamp received his marching orders after leading with his arm when challenging Hanson for a high ball, and the hosts seized the opportunity to properly assert themselves on proceedings.
Lomax was soon pulling off a full-length save to keep out Callum Griffin's first-time volleyed effort, before Ryan Sahota fired one way over the bar from twenty-five yards and Griffin had a further shot blocked after some neat interchange play around the edge of the penalty area from Rugby.
However, Sahota's involvement in the end was then prematurely ended after the young midfielder took a nasty blow to the chest - meaning a debut from the bench for new signing Stan Anaebonam.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, it was Racing that broke the deadlock though when a third ex-Town man James Hancocks met Kyle Barnett's deep free-kick with a looping header from an improbable angle which wrong-footed Marcus Bald and nestled into his net.
Harrison Nee's header to Sam Tye's cross provided an easy take for Lomax, before Rugby levelled things up when Tye forced home the ball on the turn after Griffin's corner from the right had fallen to him.
That was the last meaningful action of the opening period, and Valley started the new one brightly with Griffin's free-kick drifting just beyond the back post after Nee had demonstrated great skill on the right hand side.
Town did then enjoy a fortuitous escape though when Tyrell Skeen-Hamilton curled a free-kick onto the frame, although that represented the visitors final real chance of the match as Rugby took control and pinned their opponents back thereafter.
Valley soon got their reward and Elliott gave them the lead from the spot just before the hour mark when he thumped his penalty down the middle after Adam Miles had taken down Mardenborough.
It was 3-1 after Griffin's press had seen him rob the ball and then send a nicely-weighted crossfield pass into the path of Anaebonam to run on and steer home through Lomax's legs.
Mardenborough had a shot a blocked and Griffin's speculative effort from inside his own half drifted harmlessly wide, before Town received their second penalty award of the afternoon when Lomax lunged through Cairo Taylor, and once more Elliott stepped up to convert - this time into the bottom left corner.
It was merely a case of how many for Town from this point on, and the bulk of the opportunities in the closing minutes fell to their two teenage subs Max Beech and Dan Shaw.
Beech's shot from a pre-rehearsed corner routine was blocked, with a further strike from him saved by Lomax, and Shaw had a rising effort gathered by Lomax before sending another shot well-wide.
In between these, Anaebonam could have added his second too after Taylor had picked him out with a low cross, but the Norwegian striker bundled his shot wide of the target.
