An out-of-sorts Rugby Town were beaten at Lichfield City in the NPL Midlands.
All the goals and the majority of the significant action came in the second half, with Rugby made to pay for a sloppy start it by conceding twice and escaping a third when the hosts missed a penalty.
Valley did up their game for the final half an hour, but despite Rivel Mardenborough's 74th-minute lifeline, unlike against Loughborough and Belper they were ultimately not able to come back from a two-goal deficit this time and City grabbed a third with the very last kick of the match.
Defender Ethan Hanson's injury ruled him out of the starting line-up, which meant a return to it for Bleu McNeil, but otherwise Town boss Grant Joshua stuck with the team that had done so well in the spirited F.A.Trophy win against Belper.
Rugby started brightly enough, with Mardenborough helping Ollie West's volleyed ball back across the box wide and Callum Griffin firing a volley the wrong side of the post.
A Mardenborough shot on the turn was blocked after Cairo Taylor had done well when breaking down the left, with Griffin then looping up a header to Sam Tye's cross for Lichfield keeper Brendon Bunn to catch comfortably.
John Mills headed Jude Taylor's delivery over the bar in a good chance for the home side as the opening half drew to a close, although there was still time for the two best openings of the game before the half-time whistle, with Griffin only just unable to connect with Caine Elliott's great low ball into the area and then Marcus Bald was well-placed to stop Taylor's point-blank range effort.
City set a marker early into the new period when their skipper Dan Lomas headed one narrowly wide, although at the other end, roles were reversed from the first-half when Griffin lifted a cross to the back post just out of Elliott's reach.
However, the hosts went ahead on 51 minutes when Taylor eventually bundled home from close range after West's sliding tackle out wide had fallen kindly for Jack Edwards to surge forward and put a dangerous cross in.
Griffin could have easily levelled things up shortly after though, when he did well to carve himself out a chance in the box after Isaac Adegoke had slipped the ball onto him, but the midfielder was unable mark his return to his old club with a goal and shot straight at Bunn instead.
Joe Haines had already headed one straight at Bald, before he clinically fired one into the top corner for the hosts' second just before the hour mark, with Edwards calmly laying the ball back into his path after Taylor had escaped the attentions of West on the right.
Just over a minute later, it was nearly three after McNeil failed to deal with a high ball in behind, and Taylor took advantage before being flattened by Bald in the box and securing a penalty for his team.
Bald pulled off an impressive one-handed save to Lomas's spot-kick though, and Rugby notably stepped up a gear following this escape. Cairo Taylor's low shot was easily gathered by Bunn, and then Tye fired one straight at the keeper after he had darted into the box from Taylor's lay-back.
Mardenborough blazed one off-target after he had worked himself some space in the penalty area, before he halved the deficit by pouncing on Josh Mansell's poor back-pass to skip round Bunn and help the ball over the line.
A decent Stan Anaebonam effort was blocked - as was one from Tye, with Elliott failing to properly test Bunn with a free-kick from a wide position as Town searched for an equaliser.
Mardenborough also provided Bunn with a straightforward take, before City punished a stretched Rugby defence in the final seconds when sub Dan Bradley guided one into the bottom corner thanks to a Luke Childs' assist.
