Rugby Town scraped through to the next round of the FA Vase thanks to Charlie Tilley's 95th-minute equaliser and a penalty shoot-out at lower league Southwell City.
It was not looking great for Rugby who trailed for most of the game after Chris Okoye's 16th-minute opener for the hosts but Tilley's last-gasp finish forced a penalty shoot-out which saw Ben Richards, Lewi Burnside and Rivel Mardenborough score their spot-kicks for Valley while Southwell missed three of theirs with Ash Bodycote saving the decisive spot-kick.
In truth Rugby had Bodycote to thank for keeping them in the game as the goalkeeper made a string of saves to prevent the hosts from doubling their lead with two one-on-ones saves to deny Okoye in particular impressive.
Southwell took advantage of Valley being temporarily down to ten with Richards off the pitch receiving treatment with Okoye racing onto a ball down the middle of the pitch before dispatching a low shot past Bodycote into the corner.
Rugby were nowhere near their best and despite putting a lot of pressure on the hosts, their lower league opponents were a constant threat on the counter attack.
By the final throws of the game the pressure became relentless as Zidan Sutherland couldn't find the target with two decent chances late on.
But Sutherland turned provider for the equaliser deep into stoppage time as he beat his man down the left and delivered a low cross which Tilley neatly clipped a first time left-footed finish into the corner to force the shoot-out.
Full report to follow.
