Rugby Town navigated their fourth pre-season friendly with a win at Ashby Ivanhoe.
Ashby, who play in the equivalent UCL Premier North, provided more competitive opposition as Rugby conceded for the first time this pre-season but ultimately were able to make it four out of four so far.
With Ash Bodycote, Steph Morley, Ryan Bridgewater, Ryley Nicholson and Jake Duffy all unavailable there was a first appearance of pre-season for Harrison Nee who had recovered from injury.
Valley started brightly enough with Nee seeing an early effort saved after excellent work by Nathan Scott to bring down Ben Richards' long diagonal pass.
But it was the hosts who scored the opening goal just past the half hour mark when one of their centre halves pulled off his man in the middle of six yard box to nod into the net.
Rugby should have been level almost straight from kick-off but Aaron Nuttall headed off target from a great position after Ryan Boothe's cross.
Parity was restored just before half time when Louis Samuels produced a stunning lobbed finish from the edge of the area on an angle after a short corner routine.
Samuels then put Valley ahead five minutes into the second period with an equally impressive finish, blasting a first time shot into the net from the edge of the area from Nuttall's tee up following Boothe's shot being blocked.
Ashby leveled with a smartly-taken finish by the left back from inside the area before Boothe finished off the scoring with another fine finish, this time lobbing into the net from 25 yards after the stranded goalkeeper had cut out Devonn O'Sullivan's throughball to fellow sub Rivel Mardenborough.
Boothe could easily have grabbed his second when he struck the post with a shot from 12 yards after good work by Mardenborough down the left.
