Valley's winning run came to an end as they were held to a draw at local rivals Lutterworth Town.
The driving wind and rain made for terrible playing conditions and were certainly a major factor on the day and after trailing at half time, Rugby managed to get an equaliser but could not force a winner despite dominating the second half with the wind advantage.
Valley got off to a flyer when Lewi Burnside's low shot was spilled by goalkeeper Josh Wormleighton and Aaron Nuttall followed to convert the rebound on just two minutes.
But the hosts rallied with the wind at their backs and after defender Ben Richards was adjudged to have fouled Tendai Daire just outside the area, ex-Valley winger Louis Samuels curled the resulting free-kick into the top corner.
Lutterworth then took the lead ten minutes before the break when Jarred Acton headed into the net.
But in the second half with the wind advantage switching in the visitors' favour, Rugby ramped up the pressure in the second half with captain Jake Wormleighton heading in Nuttall's corner at the far post to equalise.
With a quarter of the game remaining both sides were reduced to ten men in the same incident with Lutterworth's Charley Kilburn and Rugby's Burnside both given straight red cards after an alteration after a challenge.
It was almost one-way traffic in the second half but despite a number of chances Rugby had to settle for a point which put a stop to the nine-game winning run.
Full report to follow.
