Valley made it five successive wins with a hard-fought win at Northampton Sileby Rangers.
The blustery conditions in Rugby's first visit to Fernie Field didn't make for a classic encounter in pure football terms but there was plenty of action as midfielder Charlie Tilley's quick-fire brace in the second half ultimately settled the game in Valley's favour.
After their impactful introduction from the bench four days earlier at FC Stratford, Sam Tye and Zidan Sutherland were in from the off in the Northampton sun, with Hisham Chiha also returning to the starting line-up in place of Devonn O'Sullivan, the unavailable Rivel Mardenborough and the departed Louis Samuels.
Luca Iaciofano gave the visitors an early scare when he smashed his volley to Tom Simmons' long-throw against the bar, but Rugby were soon ahead - with Tye reacting quickest to Aaron Nuttall's corner to help the ball home from close range after just three minutes.
Joziah Barnett's header to a Tom Binder cross lacked the power to trouble Ash Bodycote, but the Valley keeper was then beaten by a flicked header from Jack Daldy to another dangerous Simmons long-throw on 14 minutes.
Tye headed one wide and Jake Wormleighton also missed out with a header to Nuttall's corner to the back-post, before Rugby's lead was restored when Sutherland scored from the spot - ending a run of three missed penalties in a week for Town, after Sutherland's and Frankie Webster's legs had become entangled in the box.
Town's lead was relatively short-lived again though with the award of a penalty at the other end for Wormleighton's challenge on Barnett giving Iaciofano the opportunity to confidently stroke home from twelve-yards.
Sileby's second equaliser prompted their best spell of the game, with Josh Drain shooting over the bar after a neat interchange, Romeo Ingman also firing over and Webster then putting in a third off-target attempt.
Rangers' keeper John Meadows did pull out a decent stop to deny Sutherland late in the first-half though, after Tye had played him in, with Ingman striking a free-kick over the bar in the lead-up to the interval.
Tye went close when his header to Chiha's whipped-in cross was pushed up onto the crossbar by Meadows, before Wormleighton did well to clear Iaciofano's dangerous cross behind for a Northampton corner.
The two sides continued to trade chances, with Tye having a shot blocked and Barnett twice missing out on great opportunities - when first denied by Bodycote after he got in behind the Valley defence and then he dragged one wide from an angled position.
Sutherland fired way over and Abel Damoah's effort from out wide was blocked, before Town struck with two near-identical goals within three minutes to secure the win.
First Chiha's 73rd-minute corner from the left was met at the back-post by the head of Wormleighton - who guided it back into the path of Tilley for a first-time volley from close range, and then Nuttall's corner from the other side again saw Wormleighton nod it on to Tilley for a similar finish - this time via the underside of the bar.
