AFC Rushden & Diamonds are the phoenix club formed in 2011 after the demise of Rushden & Diamonds, who themselves had only been in existence for 19 season following the merger of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds in 1992.

Valley recorded away victories at both Irthlingborough Diamonds and Rusdehn Town enroute to their FA Vase success at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 30 April 1983.

Valley finished as runners-up in the Southern League Midland Division in 1993/94 and were promoted with champions Rushden & Diamonds as they went on their meteoric rise to the Football League in the 2000's before their quicker demise.

The Valley joined the United Counties League in 1969 and met both Rushden Town Reserves and Irthlingborough Diamonds on six occassions each in Division One during seasons 1972/73, 1973/74 & 1974/75 before we joined the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division for the 1975/76 season, as we ourselves moved up the Non-League Pyramid.

Our first encounter with Irthlingborough Diamonds resulted in a 1-0 Daventry Charity Cup 2nd Round home defeat on 06/12/1970.

Another important link between our club and Irthlingborough Diamonds is that Rugby based the original design of the Butlin Road Ground on their Nene Park facilities and used the same contractor, Barton Plant.

The Butlin Road dressing room and clubhouse at the timer were styled on the facilities at Old Towcestrians Rugby Club.
