Hinckley Leicester Road were formed following the liquidation of Hinckley United in 2013 and they took control of the Leicester Road stadium.

After making their way up the pyramid Rugby and Leicester Road first met in the United Counties League Premier South in 2021 from which Hinckey earned promotion.

After Rugby were promoted in 2023, the sides met again in the NPL Midlands.
