Leamington have been rapidly climbing the non-league pyramid since re-forming in 2000 in the Midland Combination League.

Back then, they faced Rugby's reserve side (then called Rugby AFC) and they have come a huge distance to finally rejoin the Southern League Premier Division after winning the Midland Division title with ease in 08/09.

Leamington spent three seasons at the top tier of non-league football from 1979 to 1982.

Rugby faced the Brakes in the competitive fixture in 2009 for the first time in over 22 years ago.
