Valley played Coventry Sphinx on a number of occassions in the 1960's in the Coventry & North Warwickshire League.
Over 45 years since their last competitve meeting, Rugby won 1-0 against a Sphinx side which included five ex-Valley players in their starting XI in the FA Cup in August 2015.
Since then the teams matched up in Sstep 5 of the pyramid a number of times culminating in a title race in the 22/23 season in the UCL Premier South which Sphinx ultimately won but both teams were promoted to the NPL Midlands.
