Since their promotion to the Southern League Premier Division, Chippenham Town have been perennial contenders for promotion.

Having reached consecutive play-off finals in 2005 and 2006 without success, the Bluebirds missed out on a play-off place entirely in the 06/07 season.

Rugby have only ever won once against Chippenham - a last gasp 3-2 win at Hardenhuish Park in November 2006.
